Historic Foster HillFoster Hill is the location of five marked historic sites vital to the history of Massachusetts including a marker designating the site of the Foster Homestead. This is the site where Judge Jedediah Foster created the first draft of the Massachusetts Constitution in 1779. This is also the site of the Siege of Brookfield. In 1675, Brookfield came under siege by local Indians at the outset of King Philip's War. The town's inhabitants found shelter in the fortified tavern while most of the town's buildings were destroyed. The siege lasted three days until the ninety nine people in the besieged building were rescued by troops arriving from Marlborough. Foster Hill Road West Brookfield MA 01585 |
