Westville Lake Recreation Area

Downstream from Old Sturbridge Village is the Westville Lake dam on the Quinebaug River. Outside Southbridge, handicapped-accessible Westville Lake Recreation Area has three acres of athletic fields, picnic tables and grills. Lake anglers will find large-mouth bass and pan fish. Above the dam, the state stocks the Quinebaug River with trout for a popular fly-fishing spot. Two boat launches provide easy access for canoeing and boating enthusiasts. Paralleling the Quinebaug River, the abandoned Grand Trunk Railroad creates a walking and hiking trail. Photographers and bird watchers enjoy the undeveloped lands year-round, with sledding, skiing and other winter favorites.
